Laser CMO – a partner of the European Blind and Partially Sighted Championships

21 August sees the beginning of the 9th IBSA European Blind and Partially Sighted Championships in showdown – a sport in which Poland is internationally successful.

Prof. Jerzy Szaflik’s ophthalmology clinic is a partner of the event, providing equipment and facilities for the players’ compulsory medical examinations.

This year’s European Blind and Partially Sighted Championships are being hosted by Poland, and the participants include dozens of representatives of 18 countries of the Old Continent.

The tournament is organised by the ‘Cross’ Blind and Partially Sighted Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism Association on behalf of the International Blind Sports Association (IBSA).

The players will compete at showdown, a sporting discipline also known as table tennis for the blind.

The first two days of the European Championships will be dedicated to the medical classification of the players.

IBSA applies strict regulations which prevent representatives without a current medical certificate from taking part in the tournament.

The classification will take place at Laser CMO, the event’s partner.

The clinic will provide access to the latest medical equipment and space for the tests to be carried out by medical classifiers from Portugal and Ukraine assigned by IBSA.
